Neighborhood Highlight – Montavilla

This next Portland neighborhood highlight will be on Montavilla and it’s a place that is near and dear to me.  I first lived here, way back in 2000, when I moved to Portland from a small town in Southern Oregon. This was the perfect spot, it was cheap (at the time), has one of the best parks in Portland right next door (Mt. Tabor), and I could ride my bicycle to Downtown in 15 minutes.  Does it get any better than this? Maybe.

There is a thriving retail & commercial strip on SE Stark St. between 76th-82nd Ave. with established businesses like Flying Pie Pizzeria, The Academy Theater, Bipartisan Cafe and Mr. Plywood.  Most of the houses are SFR built from the 1920-50s with single level duplexes and triplexes here and there.

The Montavilla neighborhood is in both Northeast and Southeast Portland, OR between Mount Tabor on the West and I-205 to the East. The Northern boundary is I-84 down to SE Division St to the South.  You can learn more from the Montavilla Neighborhood Association website HERE.

Thank you,
-Justin
